Create Hyperlink to a Document's Specific Text or Page in PowerPoint
Today I am going to show a very useful trick which is simple to do but a bit tricky. Through this trick PowerPoint users can get rid of doing some extra unnecessary job to complete the tasks related to it. Hope this tutorial will help you to make your task easier.
When we create a hyperlink to link a document or pdf file (for instance), the link by default opens the very first page of the included file. But we need to show a specific text or page.
In this case, first open the file (ex.- doc/pdf) which contains those texts that you want to insert as a link.
I wrote the 3 parts of my name in 3 different pages to check whether it’s working or not.
Now you have to select your desired text.
Here I selected 'Hasan' which is at the 2nd page of the file.
Here I selected 'Hasan' which is at the 2nd page of the file.
Now go to Insert > Bookmark.
A Bookmark menu will come up. Now write a name for the Bookmark and remember it.
I gave the same name that I wrote as the Bookmark’s name.
You can give whatever name you want but for later use give a name which is easy to remember.
Now save the file and open the PowerPoint file where you want to create the hyperlink.
Select the desired text you want to link back to the doc file and click Insert > Hyperlink.
Here I used my name as the PowerPoint text. We are now on the tricky part of the whole procedure.
Now we need that name which we used as the Bookmark’s name of the doc file.
After selecting the file you have to add some extra text to the tail of the file address.
Yes you are right we have to type the Bookmark’s name here but have to put a hashtag(#) before the Bookmark’s name. Be careful to not give any spaces here.
In my case I wrote #hasan
Now click ok and save the PowerPoint file.
Click on slide show and click on the hyperlink text.
You will see a menu bar like the picture below.
Just click yes. Bingo! Now you are on your desired page.
That’s all I had for today.
